Current bid $5,890, 5 bids, reserve not met, 4 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1969 Jaguar 2+2 E-Type with 4-speed manual gearbox, of which only 4800 were produced. There are only 36,000 miles showing on the odometer. There is no reason to doubt this is actual, as the car has been owned and regularly maintained by the present owner for the last 20+ years. The engine is solid with good constant oil pressure throughout the entire RPM range; this engine can be taken into the upper RPMs with no problems, electric cooling fans work well. The 4-speed manual gear box shifts smoothly and is in excellent condition with no syncro problems. Brakes work very well and stop the car in a straight line, all exterior lights, including turn signals and brake lights work. The tires are in good condition. Overall the car drives very well with no suspension or steering problems, it is road ready and can be driven home.

The body is extremely solid and does not show any signs of pervious accidents, there is some minor repair work to the leading edge of the rockers in the area of the rear wheel cutout, the panel gaps are very good and all doors fit and operate perfectly. The car was repainted white and the paint-job is passable but not of a quality this fine vintage car deserves and the wire wheels have some rust. The carpets are like new, were most likely replaced, however the leather in the front seats is dry and the foam needs to be replaced.

There are a few issues which need attention, the hand brake does not work, aftermarket radio does not work, AC does not work and interior lights do not work, everything else works as designed.

I bought this car and had it shipped to England. I picked it up and drove it 1200 miles to Italy without any problems. The seller was a honest gentleman (thanks Dave). The car is a little scruffy but solid and some of the electrical problems have already been sorted. The engine sounds perfect and used almost no oil in 1200 miles which makes me believe the mileage to be correct. Over the winter months the car will have a once over and next year it will be used as an almost everyday car, together with my Ferrari 400, BMW 850 Alpina and all my Jensens (FF, MK1 Manual, Mk3 Coupe etc) Cars need to be driven! This car disease is contageous, be careful out there!

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
