Sellers description:
1969 Jaguar XKE 2+2 FHC matching numbers car, triple SUs, 43,000 original miles
Mechanically, the car is very solid and a reliable driver. The engine has been modified with the addition of triple SU's and a proper 4.2 liter intake manifold, consistent with the E-type carburetor set-up prior to the 1969 US emissions requirements. This addition is assumed to add between 45 and 65 horsepower over the stock 1969 E-type set-up. I will include the original/stock dual Stromberg carburetor/manifold set-up and snorkel box with the car. This will give the new owner the option of restoring to original and testing the market value for the triple SU set-up, which is a very desirable upgrade for later year 6-cylinder E-types. There have been a number of additional improvements in the mechanicals including replacement of the points with a Pertronix Ignitor, new rear shocks and springs, new motor mounts, a new gear reduction starter motor and numerous other investments in maintenance and upkeep. Please keep in mind, old British cars and the old British gentlemen that drive them have one important thing in common, they both leak!!!! This car has some minor leaks typical for its vintage.
The exterior paint, which has minor blemishes, is finished in Carmen Red. The bodywork is solid with very minor signs of rust in typical areas.
The interior is clean, finished in black with the only issues being a cracked cosmetic gear indicator on the shift lever, a tear in driver's seat and no sun visors.
I purchased this car in September 2005 from a dealer in the Chicago land area with 35,064 original miles on the odometer. I have used it primarily on the weekends to drive between kids sporting events. It has been a great pleasure to own and drive.
