Sold at Auction for AUD$43,000; Shannons Motorclassica Collector Vehicle Auction.

Car was reported to be in South Australia registered on Club plates.

Imported from California thus ensuring its rust free body was a good starting point for a full restoration, and right hand drive conversion. (Both carried out in Australia) this very nice example of the ever popular E- Type Jaguar is one for the true collector. Having been purchased by the current South Australian owner, who was looking for a solid vehicle, with automatic transmission and air conditioning to use as a week end cruiser. However, back problems have prevented him carrying out his plans, so the Jaguar has not travelled very far in the past year. Painted in two pack Glasurit Deep Red with contrasting Beige leather trim the E-Type presents nicely. Currently on SA Club permit registration, The Jaguar will be so sold unregistered, with a Victorian Roadworthy Certificate supplied after the sale.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
