Ebay item 6/20/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-XKE-2-2-Auto-Trans-A-C-New-Parts-NO-RESERVE-/320717 ...
Opening bid $6,000 no reserve, no bids yet 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
I have owned this car for about 12 years and drove it about 5000 miles. It has never left me stranded on the road. While I've had it, the following items were added/replaced/repaired:

The interior carpeting was replaced with aftermarket Jag carpeting and looks crisp and clean. The only noticeable flaw on the interior is that the beading on the entry side of the driver's seat is worn.

A new, R-134A air conditioning system has been installed, which also works well. Every A/C component was replaced except for the evaporator case (new evaporator was installed in old case). The heating system was also reworked and provides good heat in the winter.

New Michelin Redline tires were installed along with new inner tubes. New exhaust system, new front ball joints, new steering rack bellows, new carb float needles, new front and rear driveshaft u-joints.

Car has a new, 130 Amp, Mr. Amp alternator and a new high performance gel battery. Engine cooling fans were rebuilt.

Engine was removed and seals were replaced. It was not rebuilt, however, and smokes a little . The engine and trans do also drip a little oil. The engine is from a 1972 XJ6, which is same as XKE except the front cover has a somewhat improved water pump.

The speedometer needle jumps a little. It probably needs a rebuild and possibly a different speedo gear at the other end. The tachometer works ok.

The car starts easily, drives well. Uses regular gas.

Body was repaired where corroded with multiple layers of POR-15 rust inhibiting paint and with fiberglass gel body filler. It was then professionally repainted. All windshield, window, and door rubber seals were replaced.

Unfortunately, some new paint damage has occurred on the driver's side door and the rocker panel beneath it. I put a cheap, plastic tarp over the car as a dust cover after I had warmed it up. On shutting it down, I kicked the excess tarp material under the car where the heat from the exhaust ignited it. The paint was not damaged to bare metal. The original, sanded paint finish remains(see photos).

Before I bought the car it had been hit in front and repaired by the previous owner. This necessitated repair to the front picture frame and one side engine frame as well as the bonnet. The repairs have held up well during the 5000 miles I have driven it. A few wrinkles to the bonnet can be seen on the underside, but the visible side has been smoothed out perfectly with fiberglass resin.

There is approximately half a gallon of the original paint left, which should be more than enough for the buyer to repair the damaged area.

The front rides a little low. Adjusting the torsion bars would correct this, if desired.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
