For sale at David Golding Classic and Modern Cars of Dublin for 74,950 euros. Seller's description below.

www.classicandvintage.ie/car-details/

1969 E Type Series 2 2+2 4.2 litre straight 6 engine with triple carbs, 5 speed Getrag conversion, wire wheels and black leather interior. Supplied new on 20th June 1969 by Walter E Sturgess of Leicester. 3 owners in the UK, the last of whom advertised it for sale in the June 2007 edition of Classic and Sports Car magazine. It was described then as Signal Red with Black leather interior, 50,620 genuine miles,3 owners, stainless steel exhaust, bare metal respray by Alan Procter, superb inside and out, documented from new, owned from 1989, never been out in the rain whilst in my ownership.

Car was imported into Ireland at that stage by a classic car restorer in Co Clare who embarked on a 13 year restoration of the mechanics and cosmetics. Invoices on file detail spending to thousands of euros. The result is a fabulous example that drives as well as it looks. The Getrag gearbox conversion enables the car to be driven on motorways in a relaxed manner. Huge history file contains the Jaguar Heritage certificate, details of previous owners in the UK, photos of the respray in 1996 as well as those taken in 2007 prior the sale and in 2008 at the start of the mechanical rebuild. There are old MoTs and invoices from 2008 to 2020.

The exterior of this fine example is in impeccable condition. The coachwork and chrome are without blemish with good panel gaps. The interior is excellent with the right level of patina to the leather seats. The car drives well with a lovely sonorous note from the stainless steel exhaust. A recent set of wire wheels is the icing on the plate. A wonderful example.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
