Lot #131966
This 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II coupe is finished in Light Blue over Dark Blue leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ wire wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a cassette stereo. It was acquired by the selling dealer in April 2023, and a replacement stainless-steel exhaust system was reportedly installed in preparation for the sale. This XKE coupe is now offered in Plainville, Connecticut with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and a clean New Jersey title.
Finished from the factory in Light Blue, the car was reportedly repainted around 2010. Exterior equipment includes US-specification headlights, dual side mirrors, wraparound chrome bumpers, a louvered clamshell hood, and dual exhaust outlets.
The chrome 15″ wire wheels are secured by knock-off hubs and are mounted with 205/70 Dunlop SP40 tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in Dark Blue leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. A Pioneer cassette stereo is housed in the center console and a replacement center armrest has been installed. The air conditioning system is inoperative and a tear on the passenger-side armrest is viewable in the gallery.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 48k miles.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. An oil change was performed by the selling dealer.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A replacement stainless-steel exhaust system was installed in preparation for the sale.
