Current bid $10,100 reserve not met, 7 bids 6 days left in auction. 94k miles.

    Sellers description:
This 1970 Jaguar XKE roadster is matching numbers and still in the original color it left the factory. I have been collecting and restoring Jaguars for over 30 years and this is one of the few light blue e-types I have seen. I think the color works extremely well with the shape of the e-type roadster.

The car was owned by a pilot in the early 2000's and he kept very good records. During his ownership the engine was rebuilt, torsion bars replaced, shocks replaced, electronic ignition installed, four pipe ANSA exhaust (which sounds great!), wire wheels replaced, radiator fans upgraded, and numerous other maintenance items attended to. It later went to an elder gentleman that enjoyed and maintained the car until it became impractical for him to own anymore.

This Jaguar is as straight as you will ever find one. The bonnet and door gaps are very good. The are no signs of prior accidents or major rust repairs. The paint is at least 11 years old and has been spotted here and there but still shows well for a nice driver. Convertible soft top was recently replaced. Chrome is nice, including the wire wheels. Engine is very strong and has excellent oil pressure. It has the 4 speed fully synchronized gearbox and shifts very good.

Includes spare tire, owners manual, receipts, boot cover, car cover, logoed front carpet mats, and knock off hammer and tool.

Car is for sale on Carsales.com.au in may 2012. Asking price $83,500. Description as follows: "Sadly one of my collection of classics is for sale. My 1970 E Type is an excellent example of a rust free roadster.
With both Hard Top and soft top this is the best of both worlds for an all year around collectable.
This car is rust free and has been fully maintained in excellent condition and is only used sparingly as a hobby. In recent years it has had a fully rebuilt motor, fully rebuilt suspensions, new engine and cabin wiring, Electronic Ignition, all rubbers replaced, wire wheels and numerous other items replaced.

Comes with an original Hard Top and near new Soft Top. I would class it as a 9/10 driver. Not concourse but at the upper end of the classic rallying car

I have owned and used it in the USA before bringing it home for my continued use in my retirement as I liked it so much but wife said it is now time to sell one of my classic cars as I have run out of garage space. I am negotiable on price if the new owner wishes to replace the US double Solex carburettors with UK triple SU's."

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
