For sale at Historics at Brooklands March 8, 2014 auction

1970 Jaguar E-Type, Series II, Roadster

Originally delivered to Illinois in the USA and latterly to the Beverly Hills Car Club, this Series II Roadster arrived back on these shores as a light project between father and son last year. The car, however, was found to be 'too good' and another example has since been sought. Under close inspection the chassis and underside were found to be in sound and solid condition with the upper body panels in an original condition. A near-side floor panel has been replaced and, notwithstanding one or two minor impact-blemishes in the body, the overall condition of shell and paint is good. A new mohair hood has been fitted recently and the interior shows little signs of wear. Sitting on chrome wire wheels with new rubber all round (including spare), this represents an attractive E-Type in sound condition and priced competitively.

Car to returns to auction 7/15
    classiccars.brightwells.com/viewdetails.php

    Auction description:
    Lot number 69
    Hammer value £43,000
    Description Jaguar E-Type S2 4.2 Roadster
    Registration BOU 54H
    Year 1970
    Colour Old English White
    Engine size 4,235 cc
    Chassis No. 1R13265
    Engine No. 7R11872/9

As the accompanying Heritage Certificate confirms, this left-hand drive Roadster was built in early April 1970 and despatched to British Leyland, New York, the following month. Originally British Racing Green with a black interior, it has long since been resprayed in Old English White by a previous American owner. Imported from California in September 2013, it has had just one registered keeper since.

Recently fitted with a new mohair hood, it has also been fitted with new old stock Irvin seat belts for a period look. A very sound, straight and unmolested car, it was fitted with a pair of new floor panels as a consequence of an MOT advisory in 2013 but is otherwise thought to be largely original following many years of light use in sunny California. The original black leather interior is in excellent shape, as are the chrome wire wheels, and the whole car presents very nicely.

Recently treated to a full service (including changing the gearbox and diff oils) and a new waterpump, it also shows clear signs of recent brake and suspension refurbishment. It is said to drive beautifully and does not suffer from oil leaks so your garage floor will remain clean! Only very reluctantly offered for sale due to a change in circumstances, it looks good value at the sensible guide price suggested given the way that E-Type values have marched relentlessly upwards in recent years. Another one to buy now while you can still afford to, perhaps...
