Owner's Comments / Article Text:
fitted with the 4.2L original engine and finished in signal red over beige leather interior, in impeccable condition. Since the leather on an open motorcar is one of the most vulnerable areas, its condition is a prime indicator for the care a vehicle has received.
A glance at the classic cockpit with its aircraft-style, black-on-white gauges and the wooden steering wheel with its aluminum spokes will raise the heartbeat of every Jaguar enthusiast! The odometer shows 82,000 miles and is accurate. Every light, gauge and switch in this car functions accurately.
Of course, top-down motoring in the E-Type is a very enticing proposition; however, there is plenty of room for driver and passenger, even with the hood (convertible top) in its raised position. Bonnet, doors and trunk lid fit exceedingly well and reflect Jaguar's exacting factory standards. England's finest, as used exclusively by Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin and Bristol: the black canvas top is in as-new condition.
Four mighty exhaust pipes create a wonderful sound! You really have to experience it firsthand, but this ferocious feline dang near sounds like one of Jaguar's famous racing D-Types of the 1950s. It is mellow if you are just tooling around town, but press down the accelerator pedal just a bit more, and the ensuing symphony of barks and bellows truly is addictive!
A larger radiator air intake on Series II cars translates to better engine cooling. Additionally, thermostatically controlled, twin radiator fans help keep the temp gauge needle in check.
Outrageous looks, exhilarating performance, and terrific integrity combine to make this E-Type a rare find.
Carefully maintained in the course of the year, it is a great driver and a sound investment.
