Sellers description:
This Primrose 1970 Jaguar XKE Roadster is in overall good condition. The car runs and drives fine, and the 74,000 original miles are correct. The title will state actual mileage. Starts right up, runs fine, brakes are good, car runs cool, does not overheat. One repaint, long ago which is very close to the original color. This car is numbers matching. The paint is heavily checked and has areas that have been brush-touched up- please be aware of this as you look at the photos. In the photos , the paint looks much better than in person. The drivers and passenger floor pans have some rust through, can be patched or left alone, your call. The same applies to the trunk floor. The trailing arm areas seem solid. This car is a 34 year old car, with some regular maintenance and parts replaced over the 34 years, just so the car can get driven out to be enjoyed, for what it is, a decent “driver”.

A few parts under the hood have been touched up, but please don’t consider this car to be a “restored " car, just because a few parts have fresh paint, they were not replaced or renewed, just painted to look better than old rusty /greasy 34 year old parts. This is not a restored car that has had every part painstakingly removed, disassembled, inspected, cleaned, sanded, renewed, painted and assembled with all new correct original parts. This is NOT this car. Nor is it priced as a restored car.

You may perceive this description to be a little brutal-. This is an honest description for a very honest car. This description will not leave you disappointed when you come to pick this car up.

The tires are fair, the exhaust is good, and the mufflers are newer. The brakes work fine. The seats are fair/poor; the driver’s seat has been patched amateurishly. The interior of this car is original and fair. The top is also original and has some tears as shown in photos. The front windshield has a deep wiper scrape. Accessories that function include the wipers, horn, head and taillights, directionals, carburetor choke, and lighter. Accessories that do NOT function include the clock, heater and radio. The lock button is missing from the driver’s door. Included with the Jag is the boot cover and spare tire. The front and rear bumpers are original and tired and the rear bumper has some minor dents so a rechrome could be the choice of the next owner. It all comes down to what you want. Many people would be very happy to drive this car as it is. Would I hop in this car to drive it 50 miles? You bet. If you want to do a total restoration this is a great candidate. If you want an affordable open top Jag roadster this is also a great choice.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
