Sold at RM auction 8/31/04
www.carcollector.com/marketjournal/RMMontereyFriday081304MJ.pdf

Auction description/results:
Lot # 130 1970 Jaguar XKE SII
Roadster; S/N J701R12091; Ice
Blue/Blue leather, Blue top; Estimate $40,000 - $60,000; Cosmetic restoration, 3 condition; Hammered Sold at $36,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $39,600 --
Chrome wire wheels, owner's
manual, white walls, AM-FM cassette, luggage rack, wood LeCarra steering wheel, A/C. New interior. Whoever sprayed the car on a lift didn't go back and spray where the lift sat. Otherwise a
good recent repaint. No Reserve. An Etype driver, bought reasonably enough although with some trepidation about what the superficial repaint covers and
what other issues might be equally superficially dealt with.

Current bid $20,322 reserve not met, 2 bids, 6 days left in auction. Car now in Atlanta, Georgia.

Sellers description:
Very nice 1970 series 2 roadster. Silver blue with dark blue leather interior, and dark blue canvas soft top. Stunning color combination! It has the original matching number 6 cylinder 4.2 liter engine (with 66K miles), full synchro manual 4-speed gearbox, wire wheels and rare factory air conditioner.

This car was sold new in California car and was there until 2004 when it came to Georgia. Completely rust free and straight. Matching numbers. Runs very good with very good oil pressure and no smoke. Air conditioner blows cold. Car was originally light blue and when re-painted a metallic shade was selected. I personally like this color better ... the paint quality is very good with good panel fit. The blue leather interior is in excellent condition as is the dark blue canvas soft top. Chrome is also very good with very good wire wheels and tires. Overall a solid, matching numbers, and very sharp looking car.

Comes with spare tire, knock off hammer and tool, owner's manual, lubrication chart, wiring diagram and CD-ROM with parts and repair manual.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
