This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster is finished in Pale Primrose over black leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a black soft top, a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ wire wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, an AM/FM radio, and air conditioning. The current owner purchased the car in 2017, and work has since involved rebuilding the carburetors, refreshing the interior, and installing a gear-reduction starter, stainless-steel tailpipes, and LED taillights. This XKE roadster is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with the owner’s manual, service records, and a clean California title.
The car is finished in Pale Primrose and was repainted around the 1990s. The bumpers and trim were re-chromed or re-polished in 2017, and a replacement black soft top was installed at that time. LED taillights were fitted the following year. The seller notes various paint chips.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by rounded knock-offs and are mounted with Coker Classics Red Stripe tires measuring 185R15. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. Work in 2017 involved replacing the brake master cylinder, A-arm bushings, and sway bar bushings.
The cabin was refreshed in 2017 and features bucket seats that were reupholstered in black leather and fitted with replacement foam padding. Black carpets were also installed, and additional appointments include an AM/FM radio, a locking glovebox, and air conditioning.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 86k miles, approximately 250 of which were added under current ownership. The horn works intermittently.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and is linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Work has involved installing a Classic Auto Air air conditioning system in 2017, rebuilding the carburetors in 2018, and fitting a gear reduction starter in 2019. The seller notes that porcelain exhaust manifolds and stainless-steel tailpipes were also added under current ownership.
The car is registered as Planned Non-operation in the state of California.
