This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was acquired out of Michigan by the seller as a gift for his wife in 1990, and the car was repainted in green and its 4.2-liter inline-six was rebuilt within a couple of years. The interior had been retrimmed in tan leather under prior ownership. Approximately 5k of the vehicle’s 73k indicated miles have been added under current ownership. Equipment includes a four-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, a black soft top, a black top boot, a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ wire wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a Pioneer head unit. This XKE roadster is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, an owner’s manual, service records, tire-changing tools, a car cover, and a clean Indiana title in the name of the seller’s wife.
Finished from the factory in British Racing Green, the car was repainted in 1992, according to the seller. Exterior equipment includes a black soft top, sealed-beam open headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, a driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, side-marker lamps, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, and quad exhaust outlets. A dent was repaired in 1996. In 2006, the hood was damaged and later repaired after a wheel came loose from this car.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires measuring 185VR15 and bearing date codes from 2020. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The cabin features bucket seats, a center console, and door panels that were reupholstered in tan leather under previous ownership. Interior appointments include tan carpeting, black Amco floor mats, a Pioneer Premier head unit, a locking glovebox, and a heater.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for battery voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 73k miles, approximately 5k of which were added under current ownership; the car has been driven less than 150 miles in the past 10 years, the seller estimates.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. The engine was overhauled in 1991, and the car has continued to receive regular service since that time, the seller tells us.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A stainless steel exhaust system was fitted under current ownership.
The identification plate has been re-created based on the factory-applied plate, which has been removed from the engine compartment and comes with the car.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates. The document indicates that the vehicle was collected in England as part of the Personal Export Delivery program and then was distributed to the United States market through British Leyland in New York.
