Ebay item# 2429525022 8/25/03
Sellers comment:
A barn fresh 1968 Jaguar XKE 4.2 litre 2+2 Coupe. Last run in 1988 it is in fair original condition ready to restore or part. The 54000 miles is reported by the family to be correct. Its very complete and looks to be missing nothing. The paint is poor, body panels straight, major rust underneath in the rear, floors reasonably solid, and rust at the rear wheel wells as shown in the photo's. The engine was started this year for the first time in 15 and runs on all cylinders and it moves on its own power. At present it runs on a temp fuel tank as original is still full of aged fuel. There was a new distributor and fuel pump installed. The wheels have some rust but are overall good condition. Tires fair. The interior is complete with all instruments, switches and seats are in good condition, headliner is fair. This vehicle was purchased new by the previous owner in 1968 and owned by him until his death last year.

Current bid $1,009 reserve not met, 2 bids. 6 days left in auction. Buy it now price $7,900. Car now located in Kingston, Pennsylvania.
Sellers description:
The mileage may or may not be correct. The car obviousely needs to be fully restored if you want a show vehicle but wouldn't take that much to turn it into a 'driver'. The REALLY good news is that it seems to be complete, except for a battery, fuel tank and an exhaust. I think the moldings are all there but can't garrantie it. The brake calippers are not on the car either but we have 'em in a box. Same is true for the seat belts. The motor runs pretty nice but since I can't drive the car, I can't tell you what the trans and clutch is like. However, the trans does shift thru all gears and the clutch should be fine too once you rebuild the master/slave cylinders. From my experience, I expect the transmission and differential to be perfect but the clutch will probably drag due to surface rust on flywheel and pressure plate, so diassembling and cleaning will be a good idea. These are the typical issues with cars that sat for so long. Nothing too terrible and surely not uncommon.....
The body is straight (some minor dings but no sign of any major damage), the rust is really not that bad! As you see in the pics, somebody started to cut the rear quarter panels out and bought new sheet metal but never got any further with the project. She'll need some floor and body work but the car is a VERY good base for a restoration! Instrumentation seem complete and the seat frames are fine with usable upholstery. The restoration on these cars is quite simple and the rarety and value of the finished car makes it surely worth the effort! The car comes with a clear Pennsylvania tile.
