This 1968 Jaguar E-Type Series 1.5 2+2 is a well-sorted, matching-numbers example equipped with its original 3-speed automatic transmission and factory air conditioning. The 1968 E-Type Series 1.5 retains much of the styling and character of the earlier Series 1 models, but incorporates a few transitional updates—such as open headlights and rocker switches—that hint at the changes to come with the Series 2. One of the advantages of the 2+2 configuration is the added luggage space and seating for two small passengers. The XKE's engine has shown good compression, and the car sits on classic chrome wire wheels with a rust-free body that has recently been treated to a host of aesthetic and mechanical improvements. Notable interior features include a center console, and a period-correct Philips AM/FM Shortwave radio.

Classic Showcase has been servicing this E-Type for the past several years, during which the previous owner entrusted us to address mechanical and cosmetic issues. The 2+2 received routine fluid changes, and its triple SU carburetors were recently serviced. A new exhaust system was installed, and the vehicle benefits from an upgraded alloy radiator with dual electric fans for improved cooling. It also received new tires and numerous cosmetic enhancements to bring out its timeless lines. This Series 1.5 2+2 has been thoughtfully maintained to provide strong performance and reliability. It is an ideal driver-level classic Jaguar—ready to enjoy now with confidence!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
