A well-preserved & cared for Jaguar E-Type, Series I, with the 4.2-liter six-cylinder in-line. This top classic was imported to Belgium in 1990 and has been with its current owner since 1993. It was put away 'in running condition' about 20 years ago, with new brakes and adjusted carburetors at the time. This lot shows moderate signs of wear considering the year of construction (or make your own assessment during a 'Viewing Day') and is further provided with 1 SET of keys plus Belgian import documents (tax paid, with certificate).

Hello,
I bought this car recently with help of Troostwijk auctions. I can confirm car and body number but the engine number is weird: F 452. I can't find any reference to this number. The header reads : 9-375.
Could someone clarify this for me?
I am in the proces of restoring. Main issues are carbs, cooling and brakes and wiring.
So far no major issues.
KIND REGARDS,
jan Limbeek

Hi Jan,
Yes that is very strange. The following link shows the various engine numbers for Jaguars. "F" only appears as an XK120 engine. Still it is unusual because it doesn't have the -x compression number, which for an XK120 would have been 8. A possibility may be a factory replacement engine which normally aren't numbered but your number is new to me.
