1967 SERIES 1½ JAGUAR E-Type 2+2 COUPE
Special Interest Car Being Sold From Malvern, PA JAGUAR Collection
Built and Maintained by Noted Reading, PA-Based, Professional JAGUAR Restoration Mechanic and Vintage JAGUAR E-Type Race Car Builder and Driver.
Car Restored in 1988 with Paint Work and Front-End Body Work Modified to Resemble Famous E-Type “Low Drag Coupe” Racer. Was Originally Automatic (hence the “BW” suffix in the VIN #). Changed to 4 Speed During Restoration Process
Body Modifications, Wider Rubber and Lower Suspension Stance Give This 2+2 Coupe a More Muscular and Aggressive Look Than the Typical 2+2 Coupe—Sometimes Described by Observers as the “Street Rod” E Coupe. A Real “Attention Getter” at Car Shows and Club Gatherings. Special-Offset Stainless Steel Wire Wheels Easily Clear the Fender Wells (a serious problem for most E Types that take on 205 section or wider modern tires). This is NOT a “Matching Numbers” Car and ALL Modifications Were Performed by a Professional with Over Thirty Years Experience in Restoring, Modifying All Models of JAGUAR Cars.
BODY WORK:
Specially Modified “Low Drag Coupe” Bonnet Sheet Metal Features Including:
Twenty-one (21) Louver Openings, Instead of the Standard Fourteen (14) on All Standard Production E Types. Added Openings Identical in Size to Standard Slits and Metalwork. All Performed to a Very High Standard.
Additional Driving Lights Between Headlight Openings and Bonnet’s Air Intake Openings, With Full Sheet Metal Light Bucket Backing.
Standard Series 1½ Front Air Intake (smaller than on Series II cars) but Incorporating Sleek Front Blade Bumper Treatment without Bumper Risers
Series 1½ Headlight Openings Modified with Recessed Edging to Accept Specially- shaped, Racing-style Plexiglass Headlight and Driving Light Covers
Only Rust on Entire Car is a Two-inch Section Found on Lower Bonnet Edge on Driver’s Side.
Paint Color: Light Metallic Blue (per Low Drag Coupe) some front bonnet paint dings and other minor imperfections. This is a Fun Driver and an Older Restoration.
All Chrome In Excellent Condition-Bumpers and Taillight Covers Are Smooth and Free of Pitting.
INTERIOR:
Twin Cloth RECARO Racing Seats with Good Bolster / Centering Support and No Fraying on Seats. FITIPALDI Racing Steering Wheel with Working Horn and Jag Center Horn Push. Dashboard and Center Console in Excellent Shape with no Cracking. Full, Original Back Seat Comes with Car and Leather Is Still in Excellent Shape.
MECHANICAL CONDITION:
Engine:
Standard 4.2 Liter Displacement with Stepped Up Performance Cams, While Still Very Streetable. Oil Pressure is 45 psi @ 3,000 RPM. Standard Exhaust Manifolds with Oversized 2” Exhaust Pipes and More Aggressive Muffler Set-up and Exhaust Note. Runs Cool but Also Has Auxiliary Cooling Fan with Dash Switch. New Fan Belt, Alternator and All New Hoses. Cam Covers, SU Carb Pots and Intake Manifolds are Polished and Entire Engine Compartment Very Clean and Presents Well.
Transmission:
Standard E Type Full-Syncho 4 Speed Gearbox with Usual 2+2 Box Extension Arrangement (given 9”longer body). Runs Quiet and Smooth, Both Under Load and at Idle (many Jag boxes are noisier at idle due to worn needle bearings where the mainshaft inserts into the input shaft/constant motion shaft). Shifts Especially Well into First Gear and All Remaining Gears plus Reverse. Clutch is Smooth and Grips Well, Especially Given the Added Engine Power.
Rear Suspension and Diff:
Has 3.31 Ratio Rear (standard on automatics and is original to the car), as Opposed to the Closer Ratio 3.54 Rear on Almost All Later 4 Spd. E Types. The Stronger Engine Pulls Extremely Well from Start and in All Gears and Gives a Wider Running Range, Along With Lower Cruising RPMs and Better Fuel Economy. Rear Has Been Recently Degreased and Cleaned Externally. Diff and Rear Bearings All Run Quietly and Without Leaks. Four All New Koni Shocks Installed in Last Year.
Front Suspension:
Older Koni’s on Front, Along with Good Front Suspension Bushings. New Ball Joints on Both Sides, Along With Rebuilt Steering Rack (new right-side bronze bushing and seals). New Steering Rack Ball Joint Ends Included in Rack Rebuild. Torsion Bars Reset to Provider Lower Front End Ride Height.
Tires and Wheels:
Wider 6” Stainless Steel-Spoked Daytons--Center Laced and All to Accommodate Wider Tires. Front Tires: 225/ 50/ ZR15 Fresh and Recent
Rear Tires: 245 /50 /ZR15 Brand New.
Brakes:
Front: Original Style front Discs
Rear: Good Pad Thickness

Lot #193482
This 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I 2+2 coupe was refurbished and modified in the late 1980s with an aftermarket hood with integrated driving lights, Wilwood brakes, wider 15″ knock-off wire wheels, Recaro bucket seats, and a Fittipaldi steering wheel. It is powered by a replacement 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential and is finished in Opalescent Silver Blue. This XKE Series I 2+2 coupe was acquired by the current owner in 2022 and is now offered on dealer consignment with a clean California title.
Chrome 15×6″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with Hankook Kinergy Pt tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors and Wilwood four-piston calipers. Aftermarket suspension components have been installed per the selling dealer.
The 2+2 cabin features Recaro bucket seats trimmed in black fabric with two-tone gray inserts. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, a Nakimichi cassette radio, and a heater.
The three-spoke Fittipaldi steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer is inoperative and shows 73k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque.
A full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission was installed in place of the factory automatic gearbox under prior ownership, and a limited-slip differential is also fitted. A stainless-steel exhaust system has been installed.
