Ebay item 4/4/04
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Opening bid $10,000.00 (Reserve not met), no bids yet, 4 days left in auction. 74k miles on the odo.

Sellers comment:
This classic, original condition vehicle is being offered as is with no expressed warranty. Last year for the series 1, with glass covered headlights, three wiper blades and 3 SU carburetors. Series 1 XKE's are highly collectible and this one even more with factory air condition. Even though this vehicle sports a Borg Warner Model 8 3-speed automatic transmission, it still has the desire to get up and run.(Getiup!) And run it does, with its 4.2 liter 6 cylinder, dual overhead cam, rated at 265HP. This is matching number vehicle: VIN 1E75937BW, Engine No. 7E50976-9, Body No. 4E51089, Trans. No EJ10576, engine also has the more desirable 9.0 compression head. Just recently turned over 74K mile and are original as best of my knowledge. I've been driving the car as a daily driver for the past 3 months and seems to drive better every day. These cars were meant to be driven, beware of those you see sitting in garages, could cost a fortune to get them road worthy.

I have invested 10K in parts alone on this car with countless hours of sweat equity. Work includes: cooling system upgrade with rebuilt original radiator to modern standards and 2750 CFM electric fan, new heater core and upgraded blower motor, front-end rebuilt with new ball joints and poly bushings, carburetors professionally rebuilt, wiper motor rebuilt, point type distributor upgrade to electronic points, all new made in England cooling hoses with correct clamps, new twin horns, all new weather-stripping except front and rear hatch glass, all chrome bumpers replated, new Dayton 6.5" center laced wire wheels and knockoffs, new 225/60/15 tires, new rear taillight housings, new rear hatch lettering, new high torque starter, new lower engine shields, new battery box new front turn signal lenses, rebuilt door hinges. Just recently had car detailed and really looks great. This car turns heads everywhere I go, I just love it and hate to see it go but losing storage space.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
