Sellers description:
1966 Jaguar XKE E-type Series I 2+2 coupe, manual.
VIN: 1E75918
This is a running and complete car.
A pure Series 1 matching numbers car with original DOHC 4.2 liter straight six engine and a manual transmission. This car has been on the road every summer for over the last 10 years. Series 1 features include glass covered headlights, triple 2” sidedraft SU carburetors, toggle switches on the dashboard, wooden steering wheel, triple windshield wipers, classic start button, 5 chrome wire wheels, and a cigar lighter.
The engine was fully rebuilt about ten thousand miles ago with all new wear items, 20-over pistons, a Ron Davis aluminum radiator and many Classic Jaguar parts. The IRS was rebuilt in 2003 with Aldan American Eagle coil-over shocks, re-sleeved rear brakes, and remote brake bleeders. The heater box is installed but not hooked up (a new heater valve and hoses are included). The exhaust is in good shape and the chrome resonators have been replaced.
This could make an excellent donor car to a concourse restoration OTS or coupe.
Front and rear carpets and front seat leathers were replaced ten years ago with correct replacements. Rear seats and the vinyl back deck are original. Seatbelts have been fitted front and rear (the right rear passenger has a 3 point harness). Tires have good tread. Correct and legal 1966 New York State license plates, XE-1 potentially available for transfer. Older repaint to Willow Green, Sir William Lyon’s favorite color. This is a good-looking car from 20 feet, but small defects are apparent on closer examination.
