A 1966 E-type Jaguar. Series 1 FHC, 2+2 LHD. The car was exported to Dubai by Jaguar Cars in 1966 and brought back to this country in the 80s, all duties have been paid and only an age related registration number has to be allocated when finished. Documentation on its history can be found in Philip Porter's book "Jaguar E-Type - The Definitive History". There is absolutely no structural rust whatsoever, only surface rusting, even seals do not need to be replaced. The car has been partly restored. The engine has been rebuilt and is still on a stand, new exhaust system and radiator, 2 bonnets and wings, spare diff etc. There is also an auxiliary fuel tank which sits in the centre of the spare wheel and a pair of wing mirrors with temperature indicators installed, although these do require restoration The original interior is tan and in quite good condition, but there is a complete new grey leather interior including leather door trim panels, still in it's original packaging. Many parts restored back to bear metal and primed, many new parts, absolutely nothing missing, many spares, and all bills available. This is a unique oportunity to obtain a sound and rust free E-Type.

IF YOU HAVE owned this car please get in touch to help complete its history. I bought this from a private dealer Oct 1 2005. And yes its turned colour from BRG to Jag Willow being sprayed a few years ago before my purchase. Trailer-ing it 100miles back home (Norwich) was completely stressful, would the trailer be strong enough had I tied it on OK? All turned out well. The e type is an import and very sound, no rot anywhere I can see. It was basically the same condition and state as the 2003 pics but resprayed. Lots of parts seen in the earlier photos were not supplied so I suppose they got used early some where else. Fair enough I didn’t pay an arm and a leg! ( Ill buy if you still have any parts !) . The engine started first time after 25 years once the distributor was correctly phased. It was 180 degrees wrong with no 6 at TDC.. It now starts reliably and sounds awesome . The petrol pump had thick white oxide on its two points and the points hinge pin was misaligned, that now works great. I remounted the clutch and drove it around the garden, no brakes !! very slowly . Work is on going and progressing well, locks all sorted , engine sorted, brakes next , then maybe an MOT by April 2006. I am still looking for a dash and bonnet locks, decent second hand tires if anyone can help as I am on a budget at the moment. More detail and exciting pics to come in the next months.

On February 26 2008 at 11.30am this car past its first UK MOT. On 29 02 2008 this car was registered for the first time in the UK. Its been more of a mental struggle than physical, re-commissioning. But we are now their. It drives great. Mileage is around 52k. Given say average of 5k per year it was laid up around 1976 so estimated 34 years before it traveled under its own power again. That’s quite a feeling. Pics to be posted soon.
The engine and gearbox are not original. The engine is from 1e75777 thanks to xkedata.com.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
