    Ebay item 10/26/04
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $2,500.00 (Reserve met), 2 bids, 6 days left in auction. Auction based from Omaha, Nebraska, USA.

    Sellers description:
Interior is near new Bartlett leather w/ wool carpets. Worth the price of the car! Runs-drives. Last registered 2003. Trans leaks when driving. Shifts fine. Engine does not smoke or over heat. Glass is very good. Body chrome is very good. Bonnet is series 2 with the series 1 bumpers. Bonnet is in very good condition with little bondo or rust. Body was repaired and painted many years ago. Body contains bondo. Condition under bondo is not known. Rust is showing in door bottoms, rear quarters, sills. Brakes are up. A great car for a donor or fix it up. Check out my other auctions for a rust free 67 series 1 1/2 body shell with bonnet and other XKE parts.

    Car returns to ebay 5/19/09
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1966-Jaguar-XKE-2-2_W0QQitemZ190308547917
Current bid $3,050 reserve not met, 3 bids 6 days left in auction. Car now in Lima, Ohio.

    Sellers description:
This is project number 14,572 that I bought and for some reason never finished. I purchased the vehicle about 5 years ago. Made a deal with a local body shop to effect the rust repair and repaint the car. I paid him in advance and some five years later retrieved the car from storage...untouched by the body shop. The moral to the story is don't trust body repair guys and never, never pay in advance.

This 1966 Jaguar XKE 2+2 has the 4.2 Liter- 6 cylinder engine and is fitted with the Tri-Carb Su Carburetor set-up, automatic trans (shifted smoothly when we drove it last) and all 5 wheels are wires. It has an excellent interior and the engine comes to temp and runs smoothly. The floats are sticking in the carbs so some carb work will be in order. The car also comes with two extra doors fitted with windows and an extra rear hatch. The odometer reads 04122, but total mileage is unknown, and potential buyer should be aware of this.

This is a complete, functioning 1966 XKE, there is rust on the rockers and some body panels, the brakes will need work and the tires need to be replaced all around, the car is far better than a part's car and with a little work and TLC would make a good weekend driver. Given the difference in driving conditions today and when the car was built in 1966 I don't know that it (or any 66 Jag for that matter) would be a good daily driver.

In my estimation, you could spend $4-5K and have a good looking driver or $40-50K and have a 90pt. car.

unlimited. My mechanic also rebuilt the carburetors and synchronized them. He informed me that they should be recalibrated and that the best way to do so is by using a color tune system. We also had the distributor cap and rotor replaced, as well as the plug wires.

    Interior
The interior is in overall good condition. There are a couple of items missing such as the horn bezel and trim piece as well as a driver! The horns work well, but I took the bezel out because it would at times get stuck which would leave the horn blaring, so I removed it and have unfortunately miss placed it. If I find it before the end of the auction I will included with the vehicle, but no guarantees. The leather is in good condition, but is a little dry in some areas. It has the original radio as well! The wood steering wheel is in good condition and is still very sturdy. All of the carpet is in nice condition as well.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
