Imported into the United Kingdom from Canada and sold by Roman Garages of Grantham in January 2018. Seller's description below.
www.romangarages.com/car/1966-jaguar-e-type-series-i-manual-4-2/

The car: This is an outstanding original example of a matching numbers 1966 Jaguar E Type 2+2 Series 1, 4.2 manual imported by ourselves from Canada. Since the photographs the car has passed its MoT test with no advisories and has a full UK registration. The LHD car is finished in Opalescent Silver Grey with Red interior complemented by chrome spoked wheels. We have the heritage certificate for this car.

Engine and Gearbox: This Series 1 Jaguar E Type 2+2 has the silken 4.2 litre straight six engine, fed by triple carburettors. The famous XK twin cam Jaguar six starts immediately and pulls strongly throughout the rev range. The car starts instantly, both cold and hot and runs good oil pressure. The 4 speed manual gearbox is slick and smooth in every ratio and the car pulls strongly in every gear. This E Type driving experience is exhilarating with handling, road holding and braking all up to a similarly high standard.

Interior: Open the door breathe in and enjoy the original Jaguar type patina! It is very rare to find an original E Type interior in this condition. The seats are free from splits and tears, and the carpet, door linings and headlining are in good condition. It requires no work for the E Type owners who like to enjoy their classic.

Exterior: The bodywork is in good condition, free from any major flaws or damage. The paintwork is Opalescent Silver Grey and is perfectly set off by chrome spoked wheels. This is an unrestored car, so whilst it is possible that it was re-sprayed earlier in life, it should be remembered that it is now over 50 years old. It does have the benefit of new door and body seals. The underside is in good sound condition and, there is evidence of the front jacking points being strengthened - a good worthwhile upgrade.

History: This is a North American E Type but still has the triple carbs as per the UK models. It was selected by our NA team and was said to have been the subject of quality work on its engine, gearbox and suspension over the years. The claims made about this car are confirmed on examination of its overall condition.

Conclusion: Driving, handling and road holding are excellent, making this a very easy car to cover the ground in. We have no hesitation in recommending this car.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
