This 1966 Jaguar XKE is a Series I coupe that is said to have remained with its original owner until the seller’s acquisition in 1988, and a subsequent refurbishment involved a repaint in white, an interior retrim in tan leather, and installation of a five-speed manual transmission. The car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six that has been fitted with an electronic ignition conversion kit and aftermarket exhaust headers. Wilwood front brake calipers have been added as well as an Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo, and other equipment includes a Moto-Lita steering wheel, triple SU carburetors, 15” wire wheels, and covered headlights. This XKE coupe is now offered with Georgia registration listing the car as a 1967 model.
The car was repainted in white following the seller’s acquisition in 1988 and features a louvered clamshell hood, covered headlights, dual center-exit exhaust outlets, and split bumpers with overriders. The seller notes pitted chrome on the taillight housings, and corrosion is visible by the weatherstripping for the door openings. Paint chips and blemishes are visible.
Chrome-finished 15” knock-off wire wheels are retained with two-eared spinners and are wrapped in 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were reportedly mounted in September 2022. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs, and Wilwood front calipers were installed under current ownership.
The cabin features bucket seats trimmed in tan leather with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. An Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo was added under current ownership along with speakers mounted in the cargo area. Wear on the carpet is visible in the driver’s footwell.
The Moto-Lita steering wheel frames a replacement 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with an inset clock, while auxiliary gauges are located in the center of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 11k miles, which is said to represent the distance added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six is equipped with triple SU carburetors as well as an electronic ignition conversion kit and aftermarket exhaust headers. Maintenance performed in September 2022 is said to have included polishing aluminum engine components and replacing the battery as well as various fluids and filters.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement five-speed manual transmission that was installed under current ownership.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its Georgia registration, which lists the car as a 1967 model and displays the body number 4E24261 as the VIN.
