This car has been mine since 1974, a series 1 car, with open headlights (low line, early), only difference. NO cubby glove box NO rocker switches, NO ugly heater control knob, curly hub wheels, green tinted glass, and when i bought it it was fitted with Koni shocks, an American style front number plate retracting bracket, just as the show cars. I have covered about 24000 of the 69ooo recorded miles, and it has given me immense pleasure.

I forgot to mention the flat glass Sev Marchal halogen headlamps, a godsend when accompanied by the open style, giving more than enough illumination, even on the darkest of country lanes at higher speeds. This car was ordered in an unusual and very attractive colour combination, Imperial Maroon and Blue interior, registered EMR 1 and supplied to its first owner Edward Michael Rose by a southampton dealer on 5th January 1968. Both Heritage, and the log book give an engine number that is out of sequence, it is 9 to1 compression ratio, but was according to records, more likely saved from an earlier production run. Anyone out there have any idea why this would happen?

42 years ago, I bought this car, then with a 1967/8 F registration.
Unusually, the engine number is from those put into cars manufactured in circa June 1967.
I have not found the reason for this, but suspect it was possibly an open headlight test bed vehicle, or maybe even a show vehicle and perhaps 6 months later, it was declared manufactured and sold on.
The original colour combination, Imperial Maroon, with dark blue leather would have been special order, and compliment the green tinted glass really well. I replaced the Koni shocks, but kept them, a few years ago, and also replaced the original flat glass Cibie headlights with standard 7 inch, and have them too. the car also sports a USA style folding number plate holder, most UK cars have an illegal stick on the bonnet not horizontal, version. it now has a black and silver alloy M/C size plate.
Anyway, The E Type is entered at Brooklands auction in June, along with my Austin Healey 3000.

At last the time has come to find my E a new home. It is off to Brooklands auction for June. Watch this space for an update.

Spotted the car in the auction catalogue. The details say Regency Red with a black interior. Is this correct or is it actually still in the original colours? No pictures on the Historics website to confirm either way but I'm certainly interested in the auction.

    Registration JPR759F
    Chassis Number 1E21726
    Engine Number 7E13735-9
    Odometer reading 64,495 miles
    Estimate £39,000 - £49,000

Offered in beautifully presented Regency Red, thanks to a recent bare metal re-spray, complimented by black leather interior and webasto sunroof option, the current vendor was privileged to purchase this example from its previous owner who had treasured the car so much, it was parked inside his house, purposely built around the car. A wall had to be taken down to remove the XKE from its hibernation and not surprisingly, it had seen very little ill effect from the elements. A UK matching numbers example, described as running very well and mechanically 9/10 by the vendor, it is offered for sale with a large history file and original buff log book. This is a rare opportunity to purchase such a well loved Series 1½ FHC, which we are certain, will be a very sought after example.
