Car at auction 4/25

www.barons-auctions.com/content/auctions.php

Auction description:

Barons Manor Park Classics

Lot 119:

1966 Jaguar E Type Coupe Series 1

Guide price: £50,000 to £60,000

Registraton: HTG 998D

Mileage:

Chassis No: 1E21161

MOT: Exempt

Engine Size: 4200cc

Jaguar E-Type coupe series 1 1966 offered for sale. This is a desirable 1966 model with the 4.2 litre engine and all syncro gearbox. The car was off the DVLA radar until 2009 and has had only three owners since. The car has had a great deal of work done by the owners which includes a rebuilt rear cage, stainless steel exhaust, brakes, new tyres and much more. Please see the pictures or the underside to see the standard of the work. This is not a matching numbers car but does have a correct 7E engine and the bonnet of the car is in excellent condition. Overall, this is a very good-looking car that runs and drives very well with a sound body and good paintwork at a sensible reserve.

Benefits from an older restoration

It’s always nice to see a Jaguar E-Type Coupe Series 1 offered for sale. This is a desirable 1966 model with the 4.2 litre engine and all synchro gearbox. The Jaguar was off the DVLA radar until 2009, and has had only three owners since. It has had a great deal of work carried out by the owners, which includes a rebuilt rear cage, stainless steel exhaust, brakes, new tyres and much more. Please see the pictures or the underside to see the standard of the work. This is not a matching numbers example but does have a correct 7E engine and the bonnet is in excellent condition. Overall, this is a very good-looking car that runs and drives very well with a sound body and good paintwork.

The Jaguar comes with its original green logbook and a JDHT Heritage Certificate which tells us that it was produced in Opalescent grey with dark blue leather and was supplied by Nortons of Cardiff to Peter William Car Sales. They in turn sold it to Keith Lones Builders Ltd of Caerphilly on 25/1/1966 and it was registered on its current registration number ‘HTG998D’.

The Jaguar appears to be very original in its appearance with covered headlights, good chrome, wire wheels, a good looking interior with beautiful patina and a good headlining. The paintwork looks lovely and how it should look. This Jaguar is a great looking car and would make an ideal weekend toy or something you could put into your collection. Jaguar E-Types are on the way up again and this is a great time to buy one. The time will come when they are back up to where they used to be, which would make this car worth somewhere in the region of £80-90,000 as they used to be. Today it could be bought for a lot less, but not for long so be quick before it’s too late.
