Ebay item 3/3/10
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Opening bid $5,000 reserve not met, no bids yet 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
I've owned this E type since 1983. The series 11/2 is a rare E type, made for about one year, as Jaguar changed the specs. from the series 1 to the series 2. This car was painted a non Jaguar bright yellow, but was complete and running. I used it regularly for a number of years before starting a full restoration. As is often the case, under the paint was more than I expected, so all the rust has been cut out, and new floors, gussets and rocker panels fitted in. The seams still have to be lead filled and finished. The bonnet had been completely brazed together, and some small holes drilled to take the clips for the chrome beads that cover the seams. The brazing has all been removed and the three main panels separated. This has left some small dents and distortion, so there is some repair/ finish work still to do there, and the holes will have to be properly filled. The front frame was dismantled, chemically stripped and cleaned and has the first coat of the correct Jaguar Primrose yellow. New tie rods and ball joints are in place, the frame was loosely assembled for moving the car. All of the brake calipers have been dismantled and brass lined, and have new pads. This model originally came with dual Stromberg carbs., I have two sets of those, plus a set of 3 SU carbs, which would give the more desirable series 1 spec of 265 HP..
There is a small rust hole in one door, but car is essentially rust free, straight and original
Many new parts are also included, a full Bartlett interior kit, of door panels, trunk mats, leather seat covers, seat foam and carpets, a set of early style wheel nuts, badge bar and SU fuel pump.
The windshield and Exhaust system are the only major missing parts.
I'm also including years worth of collecting Jaguar books and materials relating to E types and their restoration.
The car has been in storage for the last few years, but lack of time and finances are forcing this very reluctant sale.

1968 JAGUAR

80 000 - 100 000 €

- Modèle mythique - Part toutes distances - Cheveux au vent One of the best dresses of car history, the prodigious engine propelling the car to nearly 240 km/h, all for the half price of a Ferrari! Series 1 ½ is an intermediate series (and the unofficial name) which was built in 1967. Our copy was delivered in 1968 in California. It was purchased in wreck state a few years ago by its owner, a professional coachbuilder, who has been fully restored. A colossal work immortalized in an impressive file of pictures showing all the steps of his years of restoration. Obviously, the body was working particularly well, all parties affected floors, rocker panels... were replaced, no filler, just the sheet. His Havana upholstery is beautiful and very comfortable, lined with foam on skins. Mechanical side, the original block, which is available, has been replaced by another 4.2L Jaguar available at the time. She turns beautifully, carefully maintained, reliable, and its owner regularly took her to great distances.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
