This 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster was partially dismantled as part of an abandoned project and is said to have spent four decades in storage before being acquired by the seller in 2024. Chassis 1E15154 subsequently underwent a rotisserie refurbishment that involved a repaint in silver and an interior re-trim in red leather along with rebuilds of the 4.2-liter inline-six, four-speed manual transmission, rear end, suspension, and brakes. The car features a louvered clamshell hood along with enclosed headlights and triple windshield wipers. Inside, a wood-rimmed steering wheel is accompanied by a heater and bucket seats. Further equipment includes triple SU carburetors, a polished stainless-steel exhaust system, and a limited-slip differential. This XKE Series I roadster is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, an owner’s manual, a tool kit, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.
Previously finished in red, the car received a replacement driver’s door before it was repainted in its current silver, as part of the aforementioned refurbishment completed in 2024. It wears a black soft top paired with a red cloth top boot, and further details include a louvered clamshell hood, enclosed headlights, triple windshield wipers, and wraparound chrome bumpers.
The 15×6″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 205/70 Bridgestone tires. The independent suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, and four-wheel disc brakes were overhauled as part of the refurbishment.
The cabin houses bucket seats that have been re-trimmed in red leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, carpets, and lap belts. Further details include a heater, a sliding rearview mirror, and a black vinyl–trimmed dash.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel features drilled spokes and frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock. Centrally mounted Smiths gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are accompanied by a Lucas ammeter. The five-digit odometer shows 62k miles, less than 50 of which have been added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six left the factory equipped with triple SU carburetors and produced 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque when new. The rebuild completed as part of the refurbishment involved overboring the block, regrinding the crankshaft, installing replacement pistons, and balancing the rotating assembly along with installation of a replacement wiring harness, oil pump, and timing chains.
Cylinder head stamping 7E12608-9 shown above matches the number listed on the Heritage Trust certificate.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential with 3.07:1 gearing. The transmission and rear end were rebuilt and a Borg & Beck clutch kit was installed as part of the refurbishment. The polished stainless-steel exhaust system features twin central outlets.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.
Photos taken at various stages of the refurbishment project are included in the sale.
