The last of the covered headlight cars, this Series 1 E type is the most desireable of all. In the past year, the engine, carburetors, clutch, front brakes have been professionally rebuilt. Also, I have installed new chrome spoke wheels and tires from British Wire Wheel. There is minor rust under the battery and in the right front wing near the wheel well. The top fabric is good but the window is cloudy. The interior is good, paint is average to good. Mechanically the car is in excellent condition. If I kept the car, I would drop the rear out and re-seal everything because of oil drips, replace hub bearings, U-joints and brake pads as a matter of course. Mechanically it is fine and drivable for many years. The clock does not work, windshield wipers do not automatically park and there is no washer bottle. A new Koolkat fan was also installed and it works great.

Nearly anything is possible on the E-type but according to factory records this car would have been delivered with open headlights. I own an E-type older than this one that has open h/ls. OTS cars with open h/ls began with 1E14532.

This 1967 Jaguar E-type series (1) 4.2L is are no excuses collector car. It is a #s matching a vehicle that is currently in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition. The Primrose Yellow Paint is absolutely pristine. The interior is an 8/10 because there is a small amount of creasing on the driver and passenger seats. Every other aspect of the interior is in excellent condition. This Jag does not leak and is truly a mechanically sound example. Turnkey and ready to drive. The exterior is pristine from top to bottom. The chrome is mirror like, the finish of the paint is excellent, the wire wheels shine with no pitting and the body gaps are near perfect. The black convertible top is brand new folds perfectly and does not leak. The restoration of this Jaguar has been a long and expensive process with most of serious restoration work (carbs, engine rebuild, body and paint) being done by XKs Unlimited in San Luis Obispo in 2006. It has also been regularly serviced Johns Jaguar service in San Francisco. The service and restoration documentation and are very complete and dates back to 1997 (restoration photos available). In total the current owner has invested well over $90k and it shows.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
