Ebay item 9/21/15
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-SERIES-I-XKE-/231690776007
Current bid $15,100, no reserve, 8 bids 6 days left in auction. 80k miles, seller thevintageauction

Sellers description:
1967 JAGUAR SERIES I E-TYPE ROADSTER VIN: 1E14073

This true NO RESERVE auction is for a scarce 1967 Series I Jaguar E-type, or XKE, that has been off the road in clean dry storage since 1981. Blessed with a Heritage Certificate, this numbers matching roadster has the foundation for a restoration that could turn this car into a super collectible prize. Obviously this car had been somewhat neglected, but that said, the current owner has spent many years and tons of money trying to bring it back to an original brilliant state. Sadly, he was never able to complete the project.

The plan had been to change the color of the car to red, hence the noticeable difference in paint tone when you open the bonnet or see the car up in the air. The original Opalescent Golden Sand color still covers a majority of the car. Almost every mechanical component of this car has been meticulously restored including the entire suspension, braking system, complete clutch assembly (flywheel resurfaced) and engine. The interior includes a rare set of 3 rally gauges mounted on the right hand side of the dashboard and original Jaguar seat belts are still present. There is no tool kit or owner's manual.

The engine rebuild alone was performed by the top mechanic at a Long Island, New York Jaguar repair facility. Completely cleaned and examined, it was bored to .020 over with new pistons and Hastings cast iron rings, proven for quick and accurate seating. The crankshaft is original and was polished and balanced with all parts attached. The gold cylinder head was also overhauled with all new guides, valves and top of the line Toke brand valve stem shedders. New original oil pump, totally rebuilt carburetors and OEM gaskets were used to insure the engine would perform at it's peak. The exhaust manifolds are Jet Hot Ceramic coated.

The radiator has been replaced with a high performance all aluminum product and a high volume electric cool fan. The original alternator has been rebuilt, new heater blower motor, most of the rear end parts and many other suspension components have all been powder coated. There are many new parts and original take offs that will go with the car, too numerous to list and we were only able to show a portion of them in the pictures that we took.

This vintage Jaguar car starts right up and will move under it's own power for trailer loading purposes, but it has less than an hour of break-in time on the motor and will need to be sorted before any road time can be advised. There is very adequate parts availability for these beauties making restoration much easier than in days gone by. This Jaguar E-type roadster is fairly straight and it appears to have a high degree of originality with all numbers matching!

The bright work is in fair condition and the speedometer doesn't work. We didn't want to bog you down with pages of Jaguar history and information, considering that most of the enthusiasts looking at this listing will know much more about this car than we do. There is a spare wheel and tire for the car, that is not shown, and a lead head knock off hammer as well.

As you can easily see, the interior is pretty tired, so it needs restoration and the pictures of the body speak for themselves. Most of the electronics work including the wipers. This car IS currently registered and we have a clean transferable registration/title in hand. The older stickers were left on the windshield to show the provenance. This car is almost 50 years old so please forgive us if we've overlooked something minor.

Advertised for sale on carsales.com.au 26 May 2025, asking AUD$395,000. The car is in Tuggerah, New South Wales. Seller’s description (edited) follows:

Chassis 1E14073 was built on the 22nd of November 1966 and was dispatched to Jaguar Cars, New York on the 7th of December 1966. Originally finished in Opalescent Golden Sand with black interior and a black convertible top, that is how the car presented when purchased by the current owner. Displaying 80,020 miles, the car had never been restored, was full numbers matching and was in very original condition.

The car was brought to Australia where restoration was completed in April 2017 by Jaguar specialists Concours Sportscar Restoration. The restoration goal was to restore the car perfectly and to integrate upgrades to make it a real driver’s car.

The engine was rebuilt with custom designed forged pistons, bigger camshafts and valves, CNC ported cylinder head, electronic ignition and stainless steel exhaust headers. With the original triple SU carburettors fully restored and jetted accordingly, the engine produced over 300ft/lb of torque and a nice boost in power too. The gearbox is a new 5 speed. There’s a new alloy flywheel and late model diaphragm clutch. The original limited slip diff was fully rebuilt and the suspension upgraded with larger diameter front torsion bars and sway bar, uprated rear coil springs and externally adjustable GAZ shock absorbers all round. An adjustable reaction plate and adjustable rear spring platforms allow the ride height to be easily adjusted.

The brakes are all new with alloy callipers and vented discs.  A quick ratio steering rack was fitted, as was a slightly smaller diameter version of the classic E-type wood-rimmed steering wheel. A high output alternator and a gear reduction starter was fitted. An aluminium radiator and large thermo fan keep things cool.

Since completion the car has been used exactly as intended and has been serviced and maintained continuously by Concours Sportscar Restoration.
