I have just rescued this car from 30 years of sitting. Last time it ran was in 1974 or 1975 and I am currently in the process of working on it. Motor is now out and coming apart for rebuild. Everything needs to be touched to bring it back to driveable condition.

Current bid US $85,100 reserve not met, 5 bids 9 days left in auction. Seller classiccars-online 39k miles.

    Sellers description:
The JDHT (Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust) Certificate indicates that the car was originally built on March 18, 1966, and dispatched to Jaguar Cars of New York on April 13, 1966, for delivery to the owner, Etta Solomon of Elmont, NY. There is a gap of ownership between then and my friend purchasing the car in Lima, OH some time in 1974. My friend drove the vehicle for several months before it was put into storage for 30+ years. After being held in storage until 2004, I purchase the vehicle in September 2004 and started the restoration process. In September 2012, after an 8 year "Nut and Bolt" ground up restoration, the vehicle once again was started and driven. The vehicle was driven about 4000 miles since the restoration was completed in 2013. It's a great driving car that is tight without any squeaks or rattles. The vehicle has scored very well at local sanction Jaguar Club concours shows. The car has been stored in a climate controlled environment and not driven in adverse conditions. Most of the original parts that have been replaced have been kept and are available.

    Body & Paint:
The body was completely stripped of all it's original paint using mechanical means and wasn't dipped or blasted. The very solid body only needed minor sheet metal work to remove small dents and surface rust. It still retains all its original body panels since the car had been stored for 30 years and showed minimal signs of any rust or corrosion. The only piece that needed replacing was the sheet metal panel beneath the battery compartment. Attention was paid to return the body to the original factory condition and not create a perfect body-fit restoration by using excessive amounts of filler. Panel fit is correct and factory looking without being perfect. Only minor deductions have been applied by judges in "Jaguar Clubs of North America" (JCNA) concours events. Per the JCNA judges guide "Jaguars were manufactured with a certain amount of misalignment between the doors, fenders, the bonnet, the boot lid, and adjacent body panels".

The entire body was properly prepped and sprayed with PPG Deltron Epoxy primer and subsequently painted with Evercoat Polyester Primer. It was then block sanded several times to ensure a flat finish. The painting and finish sanding/sealing was done by Excalibur Auto Body in Eastlake, Ohio. The car has been repainted to its original factory color of "Opalescent Maroon" in BASF/RM Diamont Basecoat and topped with multiple coats of PPG Deltron Premium Clearcoat.
The undercarriage also was properly prepped and was coated with U-Pol HS Gravitex Stone Chip Protector in a chassis black color. The inner panels have all been correctly rustproofed with various products. A new Robbins convertible top in black Haartz Stayfast cloth (with zipper rear window) was installed along with all new rubber seal mouldings. The original vinyl top enclosure cover (boot) is in good useable condition. A new canvas top enclosure is available from the supplier.

    Chrome & Trim:
The front and rear bumpers and overriders, back up light fixture and trim, door trim and a few other major pieces have been replated by Custom Chrome Plating in Grafton, Ohio. All other chrome trim pieces are original and in good condition. One of the headlight trim bezels has some minor dings which are barely noticeable. All lighting lenses were replaced with new.

    Interior:
The interior is completely new. The entire interior compartment was protected with Eastwood's Thermo-Acoustic Sound Deadening material. The seats and center console are done in black leather with mohair backs, all other interior trim, including door cards and dash top, done in black vinyl per original specifications verified by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate. It has new correct black carpeting. All of the gauges have been gone over and are functional correctly, although the clock is not accurate. The Jaguar wooden steering wheel has been refinished and is in perfect condition along with the rest of the factory correct interior.

    Engine Compartment:
This original numbers matching 4.2 litre dual overhead cam six-cylinder engine has been completely rebuilt and is highly detailed. All of the items are finished in the correct colors and correct sheen. The engine compartment has all new wiring harnesses, hoses and belts. See the "Mechanical" section below for more details on the engine rebuild. The engine compartment nearly meets the standards for JCNA judging as "Championship Class" since some of the bolt heads and hose clamps are not original. Most have been replaced with new. The other minor changes made to engine compartment to improve drive ability, slightly detract from competition in the "Championship Class" but support judging in the "Driven Class". It wouldn't be too hard to make a few changes to get the vehicle ready to compete in the "Championship Class".

    Trunk Compartment:
The trunk compartment was completely stripped of paint while doing the bodywork and coated in epoxy primer then finished in the correct body color of Opalescent Maroon. The fuel tank was restored/refinished with gloss black paint along with all new fuel lines. The spare tire with a chrome wire wheel are in very good condition. The original jack is correctly stored in its bag in the trunk. New biscuit color trunk panels and a floor mat was installed per factory specifications.

    Glass:
All of the date coded glass with the correct "Triptex" logo is original to the vehicle. The glass is in nice condition and shows very well with only some minor signs of scratching and pitting which is to be expected of this vintage car. The manual side windows raise and lower without any problems or issues.

    Wheels & Tires:
The vehicle has four new Dayton chrome wire "Knock Off" wheels which are the correct size and specification for the Series 1 E-Type. Mounted on these wheels are four new Vredestein 185HR15 Sprint Classic radial tires. These Vredestein tires have the styling of a vintage tire, but gives all the benefits of a modern radial tire. The ride and drivability is wonderful with these radials. The chrome "Jaguar" knock off "Spinner" hubs are original to the car and show some very minor signs of usage.

    Undercarriage:
During the restoration, the undercarriage body panels were refinished and have been completely coated with Gravitex Stone Chip Protector. Again, it has all its original floor pans and metal work with no patches. The frame rails in the engine compartment have been stripped and correctly repainted in the body color. All new fuel and brake lines.

Nine times out of ten, people selling a car would not talk about or take any photos of the underside. The undercarriage tells you a lot about the car, that is why there are a few pictures of the bottom in the photo gallery. Please view them all and see why this vehicle is better then most.

Engine / Transmission / Rear End:
The engine and transmission (Gear Box) are all numbers matching and original to this vehicle. The engine was rebuilt by Earl Gibbs and David Cannon at North Coast Exotics in Cleveland, Ohio. The rebuild consisted of complete cleaning of block, replacement of crankshaft and connecting rods with updated items, minor cylinder boring and replacement of pistons and rings with new. The head was reconditioned at that time replacing all valves, springs, guides, tappets and new hold downs. Engine is basically all new inside and does not leak oil, as many British engine rebuilds do. Feeding fuel to this power plant are the three original SU HD8 carburators. These three SU carbs have been completely dismantled, glass bead peened, and then completely rebuilt. They were recently adjusted to insure peak performance.
Both the 4 speed manual transmission and rear end were gone over and inspected by Northern Ohio Transmission in Mentor, Ohio. They received new seals. A new 9.5 inch diaphragm clutch was installed with pressure plate, disc and release bearing along with all new hydraulics in the winter of 2014/2015. The clutch operates smoothly without grabbing or slipping. The rear end is a limited slip differential with a 3.54:1 gear ratio.
Pertonix breakerless ignition installed in the original distributor. (Stock Looking) Coolcat multibladed cooling system fan along with original factory radiator keeps car at 80 degrees C on the hottest days. A new header tank and Otter switch with isolation relay installed to protect the Otter switch. Coolcat adjustable reaction plate to allow for easier ride height adjustment. Hitachi style 40 amp, internally regulated, 3 wire alternator. Gear reduction starter to improve starting and reduce electrical load. All new stainless steel internal heater pipes. New wiring harnesses installed throughout the car. All new rubber sealing mouldings.

    Brakes:
All brakes have been rebuilt and brake linings replaced with factory original specs. All new brake lines and hoses. The master cylinder and booster have been rebuilt. The braking system works as you would expect from this vintage car. Remote bleeders have been installed on rear brakes to improve ability to bleed rear brakes without removing shocks.

    Suspension:
The front suspension has all components rebuilt or replaced including upgraded ball joints. All new rubber bushings. Front shocks are original Girling. Rear suspension completely redone with new universal joints in drive shaft and half shafts, and new bushings and Boge shock absorbers. New IRS body mounts and radius arm bushings installed.

    Exhaust:
A new Bell stainless steel exhaust system was installed. New stainless steel band clamps were used at all connections for easy removal. The exhaust manifolds are cast iron factory originals and have been reconditioned by blasting, sanding major imperfections and coating with high temperature black paint outside and Eastwood's internal exhaust coating. Factory manifolds were originally porcelain coated, which did not hold up under normal driving conditions. The undercarriage received a new heat shield between mufflers and floor pan.

    Awards / Shows:
In the spring of 2013 the car was entered in a casual, non-judged British car show and received a lot of attention due to its condition and unusual color. In the summer of 2013 this car won 1st Place at the JCNA sanction Jaguar Club of Ohio concours at Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, OH with a score of 9.974 in the D02 Driven Class. It also received a 2nd Place British Car Day award for all E-Types including those from the Championship Class. In 2014 it received a 1st Place at the Jaguar Club of Ohio (JCO) concours with a score or 9.992 in D02 Driven Class. In May of 2015 it received 1st Place for Jaguar XKE's at British Car Day in Solon, OH (a non-judge, peoples choice award). Also, at the JCO concours in the summer of 2015 it received a 1st Place in D02 Driven Class with a score of 9.975. Points deductions have occurred due to gear shift knob being non-authentic (since corrected) and front license bracket missing. A consistent winner even being driven regularly.
