At Lime Rock Park Vintage Fall Festival again 9/07. Parked in the Donovan Motorcars booth and listed for sale. VIN listed on the car is 661E12633 indicating this is originally a California delivered car. Car now wearing a Vermont plate appears to be registered in Vermont.

    Ebay item 1/2/13
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1966-Jaguar-XKE-OTS-prize-winning-restoration-performanc ...
Classified ad asking $150,000. 6k miles reported.

    Sellers description:
This is the finest XKE Roadster we have ever offered for sale. Starting with a fully restored XKE Donovan Motorcar Service has created likely the best driving E-type in the nation. Using the knowledge gleaned from years of vintage racing, but with an eye to comfortable street performance, this car was enhanced without disturbing the intrinsic beauty of the design.

The objective was to modernize the car so starting with wider 6" chrome Dayton Wire wheels and 215/65-15" Goodyear radials, the suspension was upgraded with special springs, sway bars and shock absorbers. Anticipating the enhanced performance the brakes were improved with larger calipers and vented rotors.

The engine and transmission were likewise improved with high compression pistons, high torque cams, electronic ignition, aluminum radiator and overflow tank, gear reduction starter, aluminum flywheel, quiet headers, a low restriction stainless exhaust and other modifications to maximize performance while maintaining the elegance and refinement that defines the classic E-type.

Finally a custom five speed gearbox was added for effortless cruising. In a word the ultimate XKE.
Only a drive will explain the incredible improvement to the original. None of these modifications changed the car in any way that could not be reversed for concours competition. The original gearbox is included with the sale and it is a fully matching numbers car.

Ten years after a full restoration by us this car won the Chairman's Prize at the Satatoga Invitational. Ready to be included in any collection, this car should be purchased by someone willing to drive and maintain this unbelievable example.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
