Barrett-Jackson Auction, Los Angeles, CA 6/16/2002. Lot #295: Report:

Discolored rubber trim below gas filler. All chrome is as good as new. Orange peel below right bumper. Very well presented, but not a 100-point restoration as the owner states.

Additional info from the '02 BJ auction:

1966 JAGUAR XKE ROADSTER
LOT #295 - RESERVE
2002 PMCCA CCA
SOLD FOR $87,480

OPTIONS
COLOR - RED
TRANS - 4 SPEED
CYLINDERS - 6
VIN - 1E12354
This car enjoys the classic simplicity of the earlier XKE's with the advantage of having the larger 4.2 liter engine, triple carburetors and, most importantly, the all synchromesh gearbox. These cars still have the ability to turn heads some 40 years after their introduction, especially if they happen to be finished in Carmen Red, as is the car offered here. It has had a complete, 100 point, restoration by a well known and highly regarded Jaguar restoreer. His instructions were to do anything and everything that was necessary, regardless of cost, to provide the owner with the best XKE Roadster possible.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
